A big day...

When you blog frequently it's easy to become obsessed by Blogger's stats counter.

Well, I mean it's easy if you're a complete moron.

If you don't know what the stats counter is let me try to explain it:

I'm not sure about how all this works but Blogger is a network of blogs (I think) and my blog is part of the Blogger network.

So, everyday blogger keeps up with how many people have visited my blog and which blog posts of mine that people have read. What country they are from and what words they typed in google to get here.

For instance, yesterday 92 people visited my blog.

Of those 92:

42 read yesterday's post

28 read the post from two days ago

13 read the post from three days ago

and on and on.

Three people got here because they typed in 'aka jane random' and one person got here because they typed in 'bulging in children's foreheads.'

I feel sorry for the person that came for that.

They were probably expecting a serious post with good information and instead they found:

This little gem about my oldest minion's helmet he wore when he was a baby.

Anyway...

It's easy to see how I could become obsessed with this.

Which, let's just admit, is really embarrassing.

I did what I do first thing every morning:

Read my Bible.

Dang it!

I probably shouldn't lie about something that involves the Bible.

Let's try again:

I did what I do first thing every morning:

Check my blog stats.

And what I saw was a little alarming.

As of 4:34 I had 1,984 hits.

At first I thought this was some sort of mistake.

And then I saw that they were all coming from one particular location:

Patrick Rothfuss' blog.

Patrick Rothfuss is a rockstar in the Fantasy writing community.

His first book The Name of the Wind sold a bajilion copies.

Or something like that.

It was...freaking awesome.

And that's coming from a 34 year old house wife so high praise indeed.

Yep...indeed.

His next book was even better.

One day back in March I wrote a blog about the his latest book, Wise Man's Fear and posted it on his blog.

And I got a lot of hits out of it.

And that was all kinds of exciting.

That all leads us to today and the 1,984 hits by 4:30 this morning.

Apparently last night on his blog he mentioned my blog.

And he said that my post was funny.

So, in the same year that Auburn wins the National Championship in Football...

...Patrick Rothfuss said I was funny.

My work here is done.
AKA Jane Random

My superpower? The ability to blog everyday.
